Michel insists Girona are focused on Sunday’s La Liga clash with Barcelona and are not considering Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Girona coach Miguel Angel Sanchez Muñoz, or Michel, has revealed ahead of Sunday’s La Liga clash with Barcelona that in-form Lamine Yamal and Rafinha pose a serious threat to their opponents, according to Mundo Deportivo on Saturday.
Michel was the first to give bad news for Girona, with Yankel Herrera ruled out of the game after the Venezuelan midfielder suffered a hamstring injury and has not recovered in time, before adding more to his praise for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona, who have made a superb start to the season.
‘Barcelona are a top team and we have to face them with great respect. We have to have character, we have to be in the other half of the pitch. We will compete, Barcelona will suffer and we will suffer as well.’
‘I want to tell the fans that I believe we can do very well, and I don’t mean winning or losing. The team is ready. We want to attack with and without the ball. We want to have possession.’
‘They play vertically and do a lot of things very well, but it’s not just their attacking style, they win the ball back quickly and have great individual quality.’
‘Lamine Yamal is the player who makes the most difference in La Liga in one-on-one duels because his decision-making is top-notch for a 17-year-old. He does everything very well and is better than everyone else in that respect.’
‘Rafinha is also in a great moment because of his penetrating play. He gives the team a lot of depth.’
Michel also insists he is focused solely on defending Barcelona on Sunday, with the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain still a mystery in midweek.
‘We will take it one game at a time and the Barca game is the most important one. We will see. We’ve a top team with versatile players to face Promotion Ufabet a new competition. It will be a complicated game and I will leave the 11 players to think about this game.’
‘For me, I don’t think about Wednesday’s game, I don’t have anything on my mind about PSG.’
